Italian Trade Agency
How digital marketing and communications agency supports top Italian manufacturers and companies at Dubai International Boat Show
With ample coastlines and a shared passion for boating, Italy and the UAE have created a strong bond in the marine space. Italy exports about 80% of its ship and boat production, with EUR 9.3 billion in exports in 2022 (+40%) and EUR 3.8 billion in the first half of 2023 (+4,3%), third in the world after China and South Korea. EUR 84 million of these exports arrived in the UAE in 2022.
It’s a symbiotic trade relationship that centers on Italy’s key formula for quality boatmanship: top boatbuilding expertise, highly skilled manpower, strong innovation, sophisticated customization, superb design, and unique interior style. Aesthetics are complemented by a deep commitment to craftsmanship. Italian boatbuilders are known for their meticulous attention to detail and mastery of both traditional and modern construction techniques.
For a selection of Italy’s top manufacturers, the Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS) 2024 offers a chance to showcase their industry-leading mechanics, technology, design, furniture, and components. It is also a show of their enduring love and appreciation for the nautical sector, passed down through generations of craftsmen and industrialists.
But beyond the history, Italy is taking the industry into a new era of innovation, luxury, and sustainability. Under the slogan Sustainability is SustainabITALY, the country’s leading manufacturers are pioneering ship designs that meet today’s emissions standards and protect the industry’s most precious asset: the ocean.
Today, Italy’s boating industry ranks first in Europe and second in the world, with a share of 16% valued at USD 3.5 billion, behind only the United States. Italy has also emerged as the undisputed leader in the global market for superyachts, securing 50% of global orders for boats in 2022, ranking as the first exporting country in the world with exports of 3.5 billion (18.3% of the total exported product).
In the UAE, the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) - Dubai acts as a key promoter of Italian business - including the specialists of the ports and seas. Regular visits from Italy’s top manufacturers to the UAE have fueled trade relationships, and Italian nautical manufacturing has grown to be synonymous with luxury, elegance, and unparalleled quality.
One of the countries’ most recent industry collaborations was inked by Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Investment Company and Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri in 2021, when the partners set out to work on advanced technologies and services across naval, marine, and industrial sectors.
